For more than a century, the Congedi family has been cultivating and processing the main fruit of the Salento, now exported all over the world: the olive, the prime result of the symbolic tree of the magnificent land of Salento, theolive tree. For four generations, this passion has given birth to purest extra-virgin olive oil, and is handed down from father to son, like any ancient and anachronistic value worth preserving carefully and not leaving in the past, because it is too precious to give up.

The Beginnings

Thus Luce Damiani originated a story marked by courage and dedication, defying the conventions of a world in which there was only room for men. Back in 1917 she made the land she inherited from her father a modern productive reality. Farming is the link between generations and family memories, a true lifeline to origins. Of his seven children, the eldest son Antonio Congedi, master oil miller, inheriting his mother's stubbornness, improved the business even more, innovating the process of transforming theextra virgin olive oil. In this way, he skillfully made the production of theApulian oil, and in particular of theoil cultivated in Salento, already modern and avant-garde in the last century, in a land such as Salento that, often abandoned to itself, has instead had the opportunity to be noticed, thanks to those who know how to exploit with intelligence and passion what the land gives effortlessly.

The Evolution

In 1989, the production of extra virgin olive oil passed into the hands of Luigi, his eldest son, who, following his father's advice, combined quality, tradition and technological innovation, with the valuable contribution of his sons Ettore and Matteo, who, having completed their studies, came to run the business. The new generation, at the top of a Salento company with decades of history, is reinventing itself to modernize the work of producing theoil grown in Salento, without losing the genuineness of tradition: it will be Ettore and Matteo's idea, in fact, to install the first centrifugal decanter, which allows not to produce processing waste and thus leads the company to realize in 2014 one of its great desires, that of being completely eco-sustainable.
